Keyword research is not about finding the biggest numbers. It is about understanding how your customers describe their problems and choosing the searches you can win and profit from.
Start with customer language
Sales calls, support tickets and reviews reveal the words people really use. Tools expand those seeds, but the seeds should come from customers.
Classify intent
Informational, commercial and transactional searches need different pages. A transactional query deserves a product or service page, not a blog post.
Cluster related queries
Group variations that share an intent and target them with one page. This avoids cannibalisation and builds depth.
Prioritise by value and difficulty
Score opportunities by business value, competition and your ability to create a better page. Start where all three are favourable.
Revisit regularly
Search behaviour changes. Review your keyword map at least once a year and after major product or market changes.
